Once upon a time in the city of Shangri-L.A., someone left a baby on a doorstep. She had wild, dark hair and purple eyes and looked at the world in a special way. The family that took her in called her Witch Baby and raised her as their own. But even though she tried to fit in, Witch Baby never felt as though she truly belonged.

So one day she packed her bat-shaped backpack, put her black cowboy-boot roller skates, and went out into the real world to find out who she really was....

The power of 5 is about 5 very different girls who learn from Hay Lin's grandmother about the veil between their world and the world of Metamoor.  These girls are the new guardians of the viel.  Will is the protector of the Heart of Canracer and the leader of the group.  Irma is the guardian with power over water.  Taranee is the guardian of fire.  Cornelia holds the power over the earth.  Hay Lin is the guardian of the air.  Together, they are W.I.T.C.H., guardians of their home and Candracer.

This is the second book in the Weetzie Bat series, and I found it even more enjoyable. Weetzie is no longer the main character, but Witch Baby is. WB is a much more darker character, as is this book. It deals with her being the black sheep of the family; not really fitting in. Witch Baby tries to find herself and where she belongs
