Legends of the Guardian-King: The Light of Eidon
Abramm Kalladorne, or Eldrin, was born the fifth son of the warrior king of Kiriath, but has chosen a far different path- that of a Guardian of the Flames, a sort of priest to the god Eidon, whom he worships. Eldrin embraces all of the Brotherhood's vows- to remove itself from the politics of Kiriath, to touch no weapon of warfare. However, not all think as he does.
I found this book by chance in the library and read it, though I was a little iffy about it at first- I had a bad experience with a similar book once and have never really been able to warm up to an allegory since. I soon realized, though, that this book was little different from any sword and sorcery fantasy I had ever picked up and the characters- Eldrin and Carissa- grew on me. It is a fantasy.
On the same note, I do not recommend this to anyone who cannot deal with a few morals in their reading, because this book has many- but does a good job with them.
