In rural Ireland in the 1960s, Tony was one smart boy, ready for anything. At least he thought he was, until the day he was involved in an accident that changed everything. On the day of his funeral, he watches his family, friends, and the rest of the farming community arrive at the church and get ready for the service that will end his all too short existence.

Tony Cullen is a teen growing up in Ireland in the 1960s. He leads a hard life - he works hard on a small farm and he lives in fear of his angry, violent father. This book can be a bit of a downer because it opens with Tony's funeral. As the story goes on we learn all of the events that leads to his death. I did love the language although it was hard to understand sometimes.
