The Raging Quiet
Marnie and Raver learn to communicate through a series of hand gestures, but when a death shakes the village, their special, silent bond causes the two to fall under suspicion of witchcraft.
A compelling, romantic, and revealing story for young readers, Sherryl Jordan's The Raging Quiet is an ideal kids' feature for a month of romance.
The Raging Quiet was a heart-wrenching story. It is a historical fiction of injustice and love, pride and prejudice. Its about a deaf boy, dubbed as "Raver" because he can't hear; in a time where deafness was considered a terrible thing. Its about Marnie, who has left her family, her husband is dead, and she befriends "Raver", the town lunatic. Soon she is viewed suspiciously, and Marnie must make a decision...to do what is right, and to do what is acceptable.
Ever since last year when my school had a sale of old books in the library and I brought The Juniper Game (for those who havn't read it read it NOW!!!!)I have been addicted to these books. I think The Raging Quiet is her one of her best so far , there should be a sequel because I would love to know what happened to Raver and Marnie when they moved!!!Can't wait till the next book comes out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
