Drama Queen Lola is back for another wild adventure! Lucky queen bee Carla Santini, Lola’s nemesis, will be traveling to different parts of Europe this summer while Lola will have to stay in Dellwood (a.k.a. “Deadwood”) New Jersey, working at a secondhand clothes store for the summer. Looks like Lola will have to suffer through a boring summer, that is, until two movie costume designers turn up at Second Best, the store Lola is working at! Lola learns that there will be a movie filmed right in Deadwood (er Dellwood that is!) This drama queen puts on her best charms—trying to stay modest yet likeable and leaves the store after work that day in high hopes that she would make it to the big screen.

But wait! Didn’t Lola want to be an actress on a stage and make her big debut some where like Broadway? Lola just says, “if Opportunity shows up in your front yard, you don’t tell her to go away because she’s wearing a Dior evening dress instead of Lady Macbeth’s robes.” So Lola has her own bit of juicy gossip now, hoping to top Carla’s constant bragging about her oh-so-wonderful upcoming trip in the summer.

Ella, making a return from the first novel, is her usual rather pessimistic, cautious, but loyal self. She tries to get Lola to think logically, but Lola is already dreaming up her own acting debut! Sam and Lola’s other friends have something important to say as well, but will Lola listen to what her friends are trying to tell her, or will she miss out on something big?

But will just helping two costume designers for several minutes get Lola a part, even as an extra in the movie? When Lola gets to school, she is in the limelight with this tidbit of movie news, and even catches Carla by surprise. Carla and Company just think this is one of Lola’s extravagant lies again, but Lola’s big mouth gets the better of her once again as she claims that she already has a role in the upcoming movie.

Only days later, Carla says that she has a part as well, seeing that her rich father knows the director of the movie. Soon, others around Lola seem to be getting parts in the movie, but Lola is left out! Will Lola be able to convince the director to give her a part in the movie, or will she loose face when everyone finds out she was lying?

Join Lola and her friends as they try to claim a role in the upcoming movie! Lola executes her many her elaborate plans, accompanied by a less-willing Ella in a determined attempt to get a part in the movie. Will this fiery drama queen prove herself? Or will she fail? Lola’s proud spirit has gotten her into trouble once again—will she ever learn to tell the truth?

A hilarious follow-up to the acclaimed Confessions of a Drama Queen by Dyan Sheldon! With a similar, adventurous plot and familiar characters, fans of the first Confessions book will enjoy Lola’s second funny search-for-stardom adventure!
