A Cry in the Night
This is Mary Higgins Calrk's best book ever. The first time I read this it had been recommended by several people and they were right-you just can't put it down. It deals with a woman who marries a wealthy man who has an odd connection with his deceased mother. Weird things go on like when she rearranges the furniture only to find that in the morning he put everything back to where his mom had placed it originally. He also has issues with the fact she's been married before and while I won't spoil the plot for potential readers, he's jealousy convinces him that Jenny's been cheating to the point when their child is born, he tells them to name it after her ex-husband!
The mind games that this book plays with you are unreal! Just when you think things can't get weirder-they do! The ending scene is very "Psycho" inspired, but it doesn't take away from the book at all. This is one book you'll need to make time for because you'll want to finish it in 1 day. On a side note, there is a TV movie based on it and the plot line follows very closely to the book and I would recommend watching it, but only after you've read the book!
When Jenny meets Erich, all is perfect.
All smiles to Jenny : Erich is handsome, rich and a talented artist...and he loves her and her children.
But when they move to Erich's house, things begin to go wrong : Jenny's ex-husband re-appears, Erich's neighboors go very strange and the shadow of Caroline, Erich's dead mother, glide over the village.
A terrifying story by Mary Higgins Clark, with lots of events and an incredible ending.
I loved that book, because it's a perfect mystery, and it's written a way you can't put it down.
