The Will of the Empress
My all time favorite series just got better; there's another one to read! Tamora Pierce does an excelent jod describing what it's like to meet a choldhood friend after years of being appart.
The progression of the characters is flawless, they really become real people. Their struggles and triumphs real.
Can't wait for the next one to come out.
The book takes place with the characters from the circle of magic. It is a delightful tale of how four friends once tied together by magic reforge their ties to fight one enemy. The story is enchanting and witty. It leaves the reader yearning for more.
This exciting finale to the Circle series explores new, more mature strands than usual. Intriguing and thrilling, the book tells the tale of the four young mages, Briar, Tris, Daja and Sandry, whose well-awaited for Reunion goes horribly wrong.
Upon learning that perhaps they are better off without each other's presence, and unable to stay at Disipline any longer, for reasons to do with age and power, the four journey instead to Namorn, at the whim of Berenene, the Empress.
But Berenene has ulterior motives, and plans to use their power for herself. In a whirlwind, the four discover what it going on and try to escape. Berenene's own personal mages, however, are highly skilled and hard to defeat. In the sugar-coated, glamourous world of Namorn, the four must reforge their friendship quickly or else be bonded into slavery.
But that's not such an easy thing to do...
A thick and satisfying read, with plenty of detail, expression and excitment, this book will sweep you off your feet.
As I have mentioned in the title - here we see all four mages are now adults, although young. Their experiences made them reluctant to open up to each other as before, but they can still depend on each other. The trips they took and the magics they had to deal with, as well as intrigue and new people, are very interesting. And throughout the book they learn to work together and be close to each other again.
Very well written, engrossing!
