The Clique: The Pretty Comittee Strikes Back
The story opens with great anticipation: An upcoming geography class field trip to Lake Placid has Massie and the members of TPC (The Pretty Committee) agog --- and not exactly over the pleasures of geography. The three days offer camping with the Briarwood boys. That would include, of course, Massie's crush, star goalie Derrick Harrington.
TPC member Kristen can't afford the fee. When the other girls offer to help pay her way, she declares she will raise the money herself by teaching memory skills. Massie decides that she too will teach a class --- in kissing. Never mind that (only Claire knows this) Massie has actually never kissed a guy. Can she pull it off?
Meanwhile, Claire is in agony over Cam breaking it off with her. Her friend Layne suggests she should go back to the old pre-TPC Claire to get him back. Although Claire knows the true reason Cam dumped her has nothing to do with the old vs. the new her, she's intrigued at the thought that it might work. Claire is so desperate, she writes Cam a poem and emails it to him.
Massie's first lesson in kissing is less than successful. She decides she simply must kiss Derrick before she does any more teaching. Yet she's decidedly unsettled at the thought.
At the extensive Packing List Party, during which TPC decides what to take camping, Derrick IMs Massie. He lets it slip that Josh (Claire's secret kisser and Alicia's crush) is totally into Claire. Oh no! What will happen to Claire if Alicia ever finds out? What will happen on the trip? Claire likes Cam (who hates her). Josh likes Claire. Alicia likes Josh. Can you say "the scene is set for disaster"?
The girls are soon off on their boy --- oops, I mean "camping" adventure, fortified by mountains of Louis Vuitton luggage crammed with the Massie-dictated necessities (such as lavender-scented sheet spray, anti-frizz serum, and portable DVD players). But they definitely are not prepared for what comes next.
This continues to be enjoyable escape reading. While the characters aren't entirely likable, their shenanigans pull the reader in. I was mildly disappointed that the subplot about Kristen's memory classes never went anywhere; I wanted to hear more. However, I truly appreciate that Massie has her insecurities and vulnerabilities, adding a bit of depth to a mostly shallow character. THE PRETTY COMMITTEE STRIKES BACK has a shocking cliffhanger of an ending. I dare you to read it and not yearn to immediately read the next book in the series.
In my oppinion, this is the best book in the series. It has an even mixture of everything that makes a book good. The best part is when Cam or "Camille" comes into the girls cabin, but I'll keep the rest secret. You'll have to read the book. The point, BEST BOOK EVER! Don't skip this one!
Massie, Alicia, Dylan, and Claire are going to their Presidents Day trip to Lake Placid. Kristen can't afford it. Massie is looking for her first kiss especially since she started M.U.C.K. Claire wants Cam back. What will she do to ge him back? Will she get him back? You'll have to read to find out.

This book was ah-mazing! I absolutley loved it! I can't wait to hear what happens next!
I can't believe Cam almost kissed Alicia! And Massie had to actually go to Claire for kissing lessons! I wonder what happens next! I can't wait for Dial L for Loser is August!
The Clique is off to Lake Placid. And they're going with... THE BOYS! Massie is thrilled to have Derrington along, but Claire is nervous. Claire wants Cam back, but will he take her back after seeing her kiss Josh? The whole grade looks to Massie for boy advice. Massie has as much experience as the rest of the girls: none, but she doesn't let them know that. WIll Massie get caught in her web of lies? Dylan's mom is along, and Dylan is digusted when her mom starts dating her teacher! Kristen couldn't afford the trip, but she will NOT sit in Westchester alone. With a shocking ending this book is full of surprises.
This book is the best clique yet! It's my favorite book of all time out of everything!I loved it!!! With all the suspense and drama and then all the twists 2 it's the perfect book! U gotta read it!!
I have read this book and it is really good.
the ending is reallllllllllly suprising. When you read the end the first thing that comes to your mind is how can they start another book.
I am from England so wen i come to America i buy different books. I read the first Clique and was ADDICTED!! I LOVE THEM. I's great being able to be shallow for a while and feel like ur part of the Westchester social scene. I am dying for dial L for a Loser to come out. On one website it said it was gonna be the last Clique book- i hoipe not. The end of the Pretty Comittie was a real cliff-hanger, i wonder where there all gonna go to school now!!!!
