I had heard so much about this book and was SUPER exited to read it. After reading it, I realized it's nothing special. Nothing shocking. Nothing too exiting. Just an average, OK book. Average ending. Average characters. It seems like a weak version of 'The Coldest Winter Ever'. If I had to recommend it to someone, I honestly wouldn't. It doesn't keep you on teh edge, or makes you want to flip to the next chapter. I honestly thought about stoping reading the book all together.
When I first read this book, I was only about 15, 16 years old. My older cousin asked me if I wanted to read it, because she said it was good. I finished the book in about 4 or 5 days and wanted to read it all over again! I want to read more books by Omar. Flyy girl was good!
Flyy Girl by Omar Tyree was the best book I had never readed! It was so real an Tracy can relate to some of the girls today. In this book is going to tell you how a innocent little girl by the name of Tracy becomes a rowdy young lady. Who goes through some different crazy, wilded, hardships relationships with the boy in Philly.
This book begins with a six year-old little girl by the name of Tracy. The night of her birthday her mom and dad had a falling out and they split up. Tracy's dad loved her dearly and sent her money every month and he paid all the bills. By that time Tracy had no interest in boys. It was all about her. A couple of years have passed by and Tracy was now in the fifth grade. All that non interest in boys had stopped.
Since Tracy had began to like a boy by the name of Aaron, that she knew since she was in the third grade and he paid her no attention. Tracy has an older friend that gives her bad advice on boys and Tracy follows, but she only follows because she sees that her older friend Mercedes has all that Flyy Girl and cute boyfriends to take care of her.
Tracy insisted on going after what she wanted in life at her tender age of 13. Tracy finally started going with Aaron and got him as her little boo boo. That is when the ball got to rolling for her and her so called love life. Tracy's Body started to grow fast. Even her mother and father had started to talk to each other again. It eventually lead to them seeing each other. But Tracy's dad still wanted his space. Tracy's mom and dad had a little boy on the way. Tracy lost interest in her boyfriend very fast. She did not know what she really wanted in her boyfriends except a cute face and lots of money to match her boogee life style. But of course she is still young.
Tracy goes through a lot as a little girl like wanting material things, the abusive relationships and her sexuality. As she grows into a young lady she learns every thing about living in Philly and "don't give anything unless they got something to give you". So thats all I have to say it speak for itself. IF YU DONT HAVE THA BOOK YUR MISSING OUT!! IF YU THOUGHT "THE COLDEST WINTER EVER" WAS GOOD THEN U WILL LOVE THIS BOOK!! AND LOOK OUT FOR "BOSS LADY" PART 3 IF MY BOY OMAR WHICH WILL HIT THE STORE IN JULY 2005! SO LOOK OUT! @$@$@$ XOXOXO
Omar Tyree's novel is advertised as an "urban classic". I must say that most urban teen novels are similar. The story, or character portrayal by themselves aren't that well constructed. But still it is addictive. You will still want to read despite Tyree's portrayal of Tracy as flighty and frivolous or the confused inserts of theme to create a "moral" tale by Tyree of empowerment. It is a fun read. Its nowhere artistically or otherwise near Souljah's epic (which is a true classic both urban and otherwise) but it still kept the pages turning surprisingly quickly.
I really liked it because it really relates to what teens go trough today. I hope the author keep writing books like that because I'm very interested into books like that.He really spices it up with Tracy and Victor.
When i read this book and finished i was like ong this book is so good its writing was excellent. When i finished it i ran straight to the computer to look for part 2 (for the love of money) and part 3 (Boss lady). I really hope this is not the last tracy gook omar tyree writes i hope he writes a lot more.
This book was very entertaining. It was ike i couldnt put it down. And i was mad when i finished it. The book was like u were in it for real going through what tracy went through.
This was an exciting book from start to end. I liked how it told about Tracey growing up, and also how it included some of her friends. I think a lot of teens will enjoy it too!!!!
this book gave so much insight on how the average and lil bit above average black teen girl from philly thinks from what fit shes about to rock to school to if she should sleep with her boyfriend ya know it was off da hook please believe it i read it three times cover to cover
i love the end of the book when victor wrote Tracy a letter telling how he really feel about her and that he wants to marry her when he get out of jail. i think that was so romantic and when i sleep i dream that i am Tracy with all them good looking me the part when mike bate get killed was hart break-in but i love that book i still wanna know bout Bruce, Ra-Ra and her sister and Timmy and Tracy college friends and Carmen Jentile and her family. This book is a good book and i read it all in 3 days and i am only 14 years of age .
