The Kiesha'ra: Hawksong
The serpentine and avian peoples (people who can shape shift into different snakes and birds) have been at war ever since anyone can remember. Numberless fighters have died on each side, and the people only fight for revenge, having forgotten the origins for the war in the first place. Two heirs to their respective, opposing thrones, Zane and Danica, wish for the pointless fighting to stop. Against some peoples wishes (including Danicas mother), they have decided to join together in marriage, tying the two races together, and work for peace.
Peace seems close to impossible for two such difference racesthe road ahead for the new couple will be plagued with betrayals, fear, and anger. But with unexpected love and wishes for peace, can a more peaceful relationship between the former enemies exist?
This was a beautiful and imaginative book that captured and held my interest from start to finish! Wonderfully written and highly enjoyable, Danica and Zanes journey was simply amazing! A sweet love story, yet an action-packed adventure! It was nice to see how, especially Danica and Zane, developed and grew wiser and more mature as characters! Hawksong is still my favorite book in the Kiesha'ra series!
What would you do as heir to the throne of a people at war for more than 1000 years?
Especially if no one can recall why the fighting began...
This is the situation that presents itself to Danica Shardae and Zane Cobriana, next in line to the avian and serpiente lines respectively.
While both hope to resolve the conflict peacefully, the only available option is unthinkable.
This book is not only about overcoming the odds and the disapproval of others to find love; it is about overcoming one's own prejudices and seeing another person, or culture, for what he, she, or it truly is.
The 2 new heirs to the throne of the avaians and serpeinte are sick of the ancient and ongoing war between the two. Danica Shardae and Zane Cobriana decide to marry as an attempt to stop the war. Some of their subjects don't approve of the marriage and try to assasinate one or the other.
I loved this book. The plot is really good. It is a really great novel and fantasy lovers or any reader should try it out.
THis book is extremely well-written I'd reccomend it to anyone and everyone. tHos who have read Stephanie Meyer's Twilight might appreciate this as well. This is the romantic story of Danica Shardae an avian shape shifter who's people have been fighting with the serpeinte shape shifters for as long as she can remember. In an attempt to bring a peace between both kinds of shapeshifters, Danica and Zane Cobriana leader of the serpeiente shapshifters agree to be each others mate. This match does stop the war between both shape shifters but there are still those who refuse to accept the peace. The question posed in this story is also the form of love and the shape it takes. A marriage only made for political reasons could turn into something more, if only Danica would let it.
Yes, you have all probably heard of a historical/romantic story about war-time but this book is nothing like that. The story is set in a time of war between the avians and the serpents. The two heirs of both kingdoms want to see the fighting stop but they are hesitant to try the only plan that might stop the war. This is because they will have to marry each other to have some hope of peace. Even when they do so, they find that things are even worse: between themselves and their people who are disgusted by this arrangement. Can peace really be found or will the war rage on? Read Hawksong to find out!
Hawksong is the third novel in the Kiesha'ra series and does not focus on Danica and Zane as it did in the previous two novels, but on the son of two of Danica's most trusted members of the royal flight (bodyguards).
Nicias belongs to a society of shapeshifters but he has always been different, all those around him are avians or serpiente whereas he is of the feared and hated falcon race. Although Nicias knows that he is loyal only to the avian-serpiente throne, others fear that he is loyal to the falcon throne. And to make matters worse, Nicais is a member of the falcon royal family.
Nicais has no plans of visiting the legendary falcon capital, until his world is turned upsided down when the power all falcons inherit awakens in him. Nicais's parents know that if he is not trained to control his power, it will destroy him, so they send him to the only people who can help him, the falcons.
While in the city Nicais experiences the devious ways of the falcons and fights to retain his freedom.
An exellent book that promises more exiciting novel to come! Recommended for fantasy lovers!
Hawksong is the first in a series of books about an age old rivalry between the avians (people who's second shape are birds) and the serpiente (people who's second shape are snakes). At the heart of the story are Danica, hier to the Avian throne, and Zane, hier to the Serpiente throne. In an effort to stop the war between there people, Danica and Zane decide to have a marriage that starts out political but becomes much more.
The story of two very different people and the effort of two, to finally bring the war between their people to an end. A touching and fantastic story of an unlikely relationship in a time of war. For all Amelia Atwater-Rhodes fans!
