I've always wanted to go to boarding school, so naturally I picked up this book, eager to read about someone's experience. However, I didn't expect what I got.
Prep tells the story of Lee Fiora, throughout her four high school years at boarding school on the East Coast. Immediately upon beginning the book, you are intrigued by the intellectual curiosity that Lee seems to hold toward every aspect of her life. She's always watching and analyzing people and where they fit in, including herself. Throughout her four years at Ault, we see how she matures from the dinky little freshie who arrived to the strong, brilliant young woman who can stick up for herself, ready to take on the real world.
Curtis Sittenfeld, the author, writes with a matter-of-fact style, but the story line is so juicy that you won't wont to put it down. It was an explosive first novel, and it left me wishing that Lee had been held back a few years just so I could have continued reading her story. Definitely a great read for someone like me who's always waited for college to live in dorms...
This book was good. It gave insight to what boarding school might be like, so any of those who are thinking of attending. It showed the difficulties that appear in life such as friends, homework, and of course boys. You get to experience all of this through the eyes of Lee and you get to hear her story. She has much to say, friend trouble, boy trouble and failing classes. You get to know the problems she has at home with her family and everything else. and i mean EVERYTHING!!
This book was absolutly AMAZING!!! Its about a boy that used to be in the world full of gangs, but after one terrible drops it stone cold. When the girl he likes brother gets in trouble with a gang, he feels the need to help him ; the only way that he knows how is to get protection from his old gang. They'll give him help if he returns to the world that he turned his back on. Its his struggle to decide what to do and the things that happen to him along the way.
This book was addicting, I read it straight through because I just couldn't put it down!!!! p.s. the other reviews were of a different book, this book has nothing to do with a girl going through prep school!
When I bought this book, I had no idea how good it would be. I knew it was a great book, but I didn't know it was so realisitc, funny, and modern it was. I seriously couldn't put the book down. It follows the life of Lee Fiora who goes to a prestigious prep school on the East Coast from her small town in Indiana. She's here on scholarship and feels different from everyone else at school. She feels like she has to watch everything she says and does. But she has so much insight on everything that goes on around the school. The students, teachers, race, class, etc. To others she may seem boring and plain, but there is so much going on in her head. it is so amazing to see the world at the Ault School through her eyes. It's hard to explain everything, it's just written so well and so realistically. It really is one of the best book ever. Lee is like any student, a little wierd, but she has crushes, wants a good friend, wants to fit in, but it's hard. Each year at Ault is desribed so vividly. You must pick up this book. it's a perfect recap of an adolescent's life in high school. The author's vision in this book and how she portrays it is perfection!
i thought this book was really good, i had so much fun reading it the book had me stuck to it all day, i didnt want to miss a thing.i heard they might make a movie???? i hope they do...
Prep is this really strange book about a girl who opted to go to a strict prep school but once she got their didnt really fit in. The book starts when she is a freshman and ends at her graduation by which time she has managed to become the most popular girl at school and a real witch.
The book is WAY to long, I kept reading but I never got to anything exciting it was all just little stuff never anything big. Really its a dull story and a waste of a good chunk of your time.
