To start off I LOVED this book!!!!! It was amazing in so many different ways! Soon enough i was inspired. This book is great for young adults like me to read because of the message that it sends to you. Live life, love everyone, and be thankful for the blessings that god has given you. It makes me wonder though. How many of us are out there in the world doing bad things and reflecting off the negative while so many other who know they have potential are out theier dieing. I personally feel that those are the kind of people who bring a change to this world and its books like this that make me glad to be alive and living another day. Ever since I started reading books like this I've become a more posotive and loving person. And yes this book made me cry like to many others I'll have to admit because I cant imagine feeling what Jesse feels when Melinda dies. I cant imagine loosing someone I really loved and wanted to spend the reat of my life with. Well this book inspired me alot and the minuite I finished reading it and got the tears out of the way i began writing a song. Yes thats how i spread my messages through music. After i finished this book I also began reading others that relate to the situations from A Rose To Melinda. I have to say i really recommend Breathless or To Live Again which are both  by Lurlene McDaniel....     To sum it up this book was one my favorite books that I have ever read.
Thanks for reading

A Rose for Melinda follows the same formula as most of Lurlane McDaniel's books. A girl and a boy meet, they become friends, then fall in love and then the girl gets sick, with cancer in this case. Not that I'm saying it isn't a good book. It is and it's very sweet, but it isn't one of my favourites. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a good read, but warn them that it has a sad ending, as the girl, Melinda, passes away.

I have recently read A Rose For Melinda, and it was a really good book. Not just any good book, probably one of the best I've ever read. I could not put it down, and as a result read it very quickly.

A regular girl named Melinda, has a dream. She wants to be a famous ballerina when she is older. She is very commited, it reminds me of my commitment to music.

She gets accepted into a prestigious dance school for the duration of the summer. She is enjoying it, but is ill. She doesn't think much about it, until one day she collapsed. Melinda was rushed to the hospital and diagnosed with leukemia. At the time, I didn't really know what leukemia was, all I knew was that it was cancer of the blood.

I was up very late finishing the book, as I just had to finish it. Now, I normally don't cry at movies and books, but this book made me cry. Especially the last 11 or so pages and especially when you read the book, and look at the beginning again.

This book was scary in the sense that it kept me awake really late. It's just so sad, and you can't stop thinking about it.

This book also got me into doing some research. I probably know more about leukemia than the average person my age. Plus, once you have the background knowledge, you understand some of the fine details of the novel better. Example, before Melinda was diagnosed with leukemia, she mentioned in a diary entry that she had bruises all over her legs. I had no idea that was a symptom of luekemia.

Overall, this was a really good book. I recommend it to anyone who enjoys stories of this nature.

This was my first read of Lurlene McDaniel and it got me hooked. I won't ever stop reading them. My fave part was when Melinda and Jesse kiss under the stars. It is a heart breaking book about a friendship that blossoms in 1st grade and keeps on until he leaves in like 5th grade. Then when Melinda discovers she has bone cancer Jesse discovers just how much he loves her. When he comes to visit her when she is in remission their friendship blossoms into somthing more. Soon after Jesse leaves she discovers shes out of remission. Will Melind and their love survive or will all of Jesse's dreams come crashing down on him? Read to find out!
