Colm's Rule #7: "Mistakes" is the name we give to our experiencesSo what if Colm is trapped for yet another summer in his parents' dumpy cottage. It's not like he planned this any more than he planned their separation, or his quitting the swim team. All Colm knows is that the clock is ticking and he's still without a girlfriend or a driver's license or a life. But funny thing, this life -- one minute it's passing you by, and the next minute you're falling in love over a plate of spaghetti, then trashing your father's new car while driving with a bruised ego and a broken heart.

Irreverent, and brimming with subversive humor, here is a debut novel that honestly captures the ironic nuances of everyday teenage ups and downs, and all the unplanned growth that happens in between.

This book made me laugh. Colm tries to win over this snobby girl but finally realizes that you have to like somebody as well as love them, too. After each chapter there's a rule he learns like:
"Mistakes is the name we give to our experiences." Good quick fun read for AR.
