Dragon's Blood (The Pit Dragon Chronicles #1)
This book was a wonderful book. Not only does it appeal to a fantasy loving crowd, it also appeals to anyone who feels 'small' so to speak. It starts with Jakkin trying to steal a dragon egg so he can get out of being a bonder(that is just slightly better than a slave.)I reccommend it to every body who likes to read a good, fun , and inspiring book.
This book takes place on the planet Austar IV, where there is a system of masters and bonders, who are a bit like slaves. When a bonder fills up his or her bondbag, they can buy their freedom, but that is very hard to do.The planet's economy revolves around the "pits", as the rings where dragons are brought to fight are called. People are mostly either dragon breeders or trainers on this planet.
Jakkin is a young bonder who has dreams of stealing a dragon egg and raising a great pit fighter and then using the gold to buy his freedom. As he says quite frequently in the story, he will fill his own bondbag.
I thought this was a fairly good book, but I think it was a little sexually biased. It is annoying how Jakkin keeps talking about "becoming a man", and how all of the men/boys in the book think that women simply exist for their own pleasure, as can be demonstrated in the "baggeries", which are Austar's kind of brothels.
