In the ever present dusk of Inbetween, Kara Hart wakes up dirty and alone with the memory of a girl named Dylan. She remembers meeting Dylan and how her heart beat when Dylan touched her face, but nothing else. When Kara is sent to Demitar, the evil ruler of Inbetween, the truth is revealed. She is Dylan's Guardian and neither of them are who they thought they were.

Set in a darker version our own world, Morning Rising follows Kara as she tries to save Dylan from Demitar's clutches. She is given three days to find Dylan and get her out of Inbetween before she belongs to Demitar forever. Memories must be regained and powers restored if they have a chance of escaping. Each memory and sighting of Dylan helps Kara remember the love they once shared. If only she can help Dylan remember before it's too late.

Morning Rising is a story about the power of love--with a twist. That love spans parallel worlds, and is the key to unlocking the powers necessary to defeat evil. It's a tale of near loss and triumphant redemption, of intrigue and betrayal. Ultimately Kara and Dylan rout the forces of evil in In-Between, or so it seems. They find evil has a long half-life.

Samantha Boyette is an up and coming author who has a true gift for story-telling and a knack for making you bond with her characters very quickly. Young adults will easily identify with the main characters and the issues they face, and will be drawn into the turmoil they encounter when thrust into a situation they could never have imagined. The story spans multiple worlds, but they are so well crafted that the story remains about the main characters--and how their relationship is the key to their survival. Definitely a recommended read!
Good Points
Great characters, riveting plot, a believable parallel world, lots of action.
