Esti Legard comes to the Caribbeans to get away from her late father, The Great Legard's shadow. All her life her acting has been attributed to her dad's fame, but Esti wants to be known for herself. But things aren't what they seem at her new school. Esti starts practicing her acting with a voice in the dark, that the locals call Jumbee, or a ghost. Things become even more complicated when Rafe, her childhood friend shows up.
I loved The Jumbee! It was a very nice re-telling of the Phantom of The Opera, except in this case, it was a Romeo and Juliet play set in the Caribbeans. Alan was a creepily perfect Phantom, or rather Jumbee. The local's superstitions just added to the scary/mysterious factor. I could not put this book down until I was finished with it. It was really good, and I recommend it!
