Wicked Lovely has been one of my favorite books for a while. It is the story of a girl, Aislinn, who's ordinary except that she can see faeries. Her best friend is Seth, but Seth is more interested in her than she knows. On the other hand, there's Keenan, a court faery and the Summer King.

Aislinn is propelled deeper into a world involving secrets of her past, a long war between summer and winter, and her own love life. There are a few unexpected twists, which are refreshing from all those predicable books.

My favorite thing about Wicked Lovely is that the characters are so believable even though over half of them aren't supposed to be mortal. It is easy to feel sympathy with a large number of the cast of characters except for those who are just pure evil. I grew so attached with these characters that I was so disappointed when the book was over, because I loved the story and wished it would continue.

Wicked Lovely was one of the best books to be published this year, no doubt. I would recommend it for fans of the Twilight series.

Wicked Lovely is another one of those books that Id heard so much hype about, I almost didnt want to pick it up, for fear that it would be terribly disappointing. I mean, the blurb on the cover is from Tamora Pierce! It fits, too; though Aislinn is a modern-day heroine, shes much like some of Pierces strong female characters. Aislinn doesnt let anyone else control hershe is very much in charge of her own fate, despite ancient faery curses working against that independence!

Anyway, Wicked Lovely does not disappoint. It is the story of Aislinn, a teenage girl who can see faeries. Shes always lived with the rules her grandmother has set to keep her safe, ignoring the faeries. If they knew she could see them, if the wrong faery found out, shed be in grave danger.

Of course, keeping her secret may not keep her safe after all. Shes being stalked by two faeries. One of whom just happens to be the Summer King, Keenan, who has been searching for his queen for centuries. Those who are chosen as possible queens cannot escape; they either become Summer Girls, slutty faeries without a care in the world, or they try their chances at becoming the Summer Queenand when it is discovered they are not, they are filled with Winters chill, vowing to try and convince other mortal girls not to try and become queen, despite the fact that the current Winter Girl can only escape and be free if another takes her place.

While theres all of that faery drama going on, Aislinn also has some real-world problems. Like, her relationship with Seth. Theyre very, very close friends, but nothing more. Aislinn might like to be more, and Seths always flirting with her, but he doesnt date; he just sleeps around. Aislinn wants to keep their friendship, rather than being used and discarded like she fears.

Melissa Marrs novel is brilliant. Her writing slowly but surely draws you in until you (like me) are reading under your desk in World History to finish it as quickly as possible, to find out what happens to the characters who seem so real! This urban faery tale is remniscent of Holly Black, with faeries who arent at all what we see in those fluffy, pink cartoons and books for little girls. These faeries are beautiful, dangerous, dark, and terrifying, even the so-called good faeries.

This marvelous debut is dark, beautiful, and unputdownable. Luckily for readers who will be aching for more after finishing, the sequel (well, more of a companion book than a sequel; same world, different focus), Ink Exchange, will be out in April.

Aislinn has always been able to see faeries, but has never let on to it. This is one of the rules that her grandmother instated when Aislinn first mentioned the faeries. She always abides by this rule in fear that if the wrong faerie finds out, there will be grave punishments. Life is good for Aislinn until she begins to be stalked by two faeries, one of whom happens to be the Summer King Keenan. Keenan has been in search of a queen for centuries, but just can't seem to find the right girl. Yes, many girls have been swooned by his looks and attempted to be the prized Summer Queen, but they have all failed either becoming Summer girls, who are sultry faeries, or are filled with winter and become Winter Princesses. When Keenan meets Aislinn though he knows she is the one. Not only because of her ability to resist him, but that his mother, Beira the Winter Queen, is very afraid of her because of her abilities. As for Aislinn she wants nothing to do with the faerie world. She is content being a teenager. The only thing is she can't seem to figure out is her relationship with her best friend Seth. They've been friends for a long time, but she's not sure if she only likes him as a friend anymore. He is constantly flirting with her and seems to be sending out mixed messages. What is a girl to do? Putting her feelings on the back burner for a few days Aislinn enlists Seth's help to deal with the faeries. She wants them to leave her alone, but she seems to have an irking feeling that maybe it wouldn't be so bad to help them out. With the help of Seth Aislinn learns that she can be in control of the situation and starts to see if she can make the best out of the situation and make everyone happy.

This was an absolute gem to read. Everything about it was beyond amazing. Isn't the cover fantastic too? I must admit I have never been keen to read faerie books, but Wicked Lovely left me craving for more of the faerie world. To me the story was completely original and the writing was phenomenal. Melissa Marr slowly reeled me in from the first page and left me dangling throughout most of the book. It wasn't until the very end that everything came together. Also the names used in the book are so original and creative. Aislinn's character was great. I felt like I had a connection with her, not that we seem to be alike, but there was just something there. This was a great debut novel and I cannot wait to read more of Melissa's writing. Ink Exchange comes out at the end of April. I strongly recommend this book to everyone and anyone, whether you like faerie tales or not. This is truly a unique book that I think everyone will love.

High School junior, Aislinn, has always been able to see faeries but must keep it hidden because if the faeries find out they might hurt her or worse- even kill her. Faeries can be hurt by steel so Aislinn lives in a city where steel is abundant. She's a witness to the faeries cruelty on each other and humans but she can't do anything about it. When two faeries begin stalking her Aislinn is pulled into a centuries old game to see who get the power, the Winter Queen or the Summer King. The Summer King ,Keenan, who wants to restore summer in the world but the Winter Queen wants to freeze the earth and eventually kill all the humans. In order to see if Aislinn can help save the humans and restore summer she must pass a test that no other human has been able to pass. If she fails she would become the Winter Girl.

Melissa Marr writes a great modern Urban Fantasy book. Her characters have depth and seem real. The plot was really good and well-written. She creates a world which conveys the life and politics of the faeries. The suspense is always their. The different point of views allow you to read what the others are thinking and make you like them. The romance was very good and realistic.I couldn't put the book down and it kept me interested. Melissa Marr is a great author.

This was a beautifully dark story about faeries that aren't all light and fairy dust. The world of the faeries is in chaos, and the faeries themselves can be so evil and malicious. They make Tinker Bell seem like a childish and bratty fairy. I loved the character of Aislinn, who is captivated by the aura of faeries, but her strength and character keeps her from falling into a trance. Throughout the book, the choices that she has to choose seem bound and relentless, but Marr finds a way for Aislinn to get out of it. I loved the ending, but that is for me to know, and for all you readers to find out. Definitely go pick out this book and read.

Fey aren't the sweet little creatures that you always heard they were from the fairy tales of childhood. No one knows this better than Aislinn, who has the rare gift of being able to see the fey, all of the beuaty and unamaginable horrors.

Rule #3: Dont stare at invisible faeries. Aiislinn has always seen faeries. Powerful and dangerous, they walk hidden in the mortal world. Aislinn fears their crueltyespecially if they learn of her Sightand wishes she were as blind to their presence as other teens.

Rule #2: Dont speak to invisible faeries. Now faeries are stalking her. One of them, Keenan, who is equal parts terrifying and alluring, is trying to talk to her, asking questions Aislinn is afraid to answer.

Rule #1: Dont ever attract their attention. But its too late. Keenan is the Summer King who has sought his queen for nine centuries. Without her, summer itself will perish. He is determined that Aislinn will become the Summer Queen at any costregardless of her plans or desires.

Suddenly none of the rules that have kept Aislinn safe are working anymore, and everything is on the line: her freedom; her best friend, Seth; her life; everything. Faery intrigue, mortal love, and the clash of ancient rules and modern expectations swirl together in this 21st century faery tale.

Melissa Marr's modern faery tale is romantic, exciting, suspenseful, and fantastical. In her first novel Melissa created a well reaserched teen book that has the ability to keep you reading all through the night. Melissa creates great characters that develope through out the novel that will make you wish that you knew them.

I would recomend this book to anyone that enjoys fantasy, sci-fi, romance, action or adventure.

this book was awesome. there i said it. it was classy and mysterious yet sweet and easy to read. you get drawn into the world of the fey and ask yourself if they do really exist. the greatest part about the book is the sublty of the author in presenting the plot. it was really fun reading about the love triangle that prsented itself and seeing how the most random everyday people in your life make you feel special and important.

Wicked Lovely is in my list of top 5 books! It simply is amazing! This book captures your interest fast, and keeps it throughout the book. It is about a girl who doesn't know she is a faerie, let alone a faerie queen, and this lead to a love triangle with her "boyfriend" and king. Throughout the book you get different parts of peoples lives and feelings. Also, it's has many unexpected scenes, that just make it all the more intriguing. I loved this book and couldn't put it down. I loved this book for its real feelings of the characters, but also the science fiction. And of course the romance with the love triangle. For fans of the Twilight Saga and/or the Tithe series, these books are definetly for you!
