WHO WANTS I SCREAM? by Andres Miedoso is the 14th installment of his series Desmond Cole Ghost Patrol which features a young Andres and his best friend Desmond as they tackle the paranormal community in their small town of Kersville. Giggles are sure to be heard throughout the house when Desmond and Andres are on a case.

In this installment, Andres and Desmond are spending a very hot and miserable summer at the community pool, their only relief from the heat. But when the dreaded "Adult Swim" time comes, all the children are kicked out of the pool. Thankfully an old friend brings the ice cream truck around so the kids have a way to stay cool. With their friend going on vacation though, who will keep them filled with ice cream? Zax has a solution.... his friend the I Scream Man.

What I Loved:
I love the easy to read language in these books. It encourages reluctant readers and gives them confidence in knowing that they can not only read the book in its entirety but also understand what is happening in the story. Couple that with illustrations on nearly every page and you have a winning book.

This is billed as children's horror, and while it is that, it is very age appropriate. The horror is offset with humor. The brave Desmond who will try any ice cream flavor and the reliable and reluctant hero Andres who will stick to plain vanilla show this well. While Andres is scared, Desmond is cracking jokes. Love this duo!

Who Wants I Scream? is a "chilling" read that will induce laughter and encourage early independent readers to keep reading.
