What worked: Condensed biography on the life of New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. There is a brief history of AOC's life and what helped her decide to run for office at an early age. Readers learn about her family background in the Bronx and her desire at an early age to help those in her community. As a former first-grade teacher I feel this book would be the perfect addition to Latinx/e History Month with its portrayal of a strong Latina leader. Her story is one that is important to read and shows how one woman was able to win a Congressional seat against big odds.

There is a timeline on the history of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez next to the timeline of the world. Also, it addresses not only some misconceptions about the congresswoman but rather highlights what she has done for not only her constituents but others while serving in office.

Inspiring short biography of the life of NY Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is a perfect addition to any school library.
