Since her parents' bitter divorce, McLean and her dad, a restaurant consultant, have been on the move-four towns in two years. Estranged from her mother and her mother's new family, McLean has followed her dad in leaving the unhappy past behind. And each new place gives her a chance to try out a new persona: from cheerleader to drama diva. But now, for the first time, McLean discovers a desire to stay in one place and just be herself, whoever that is. Perhaps Dave, the guy next door, can help her find out.

Combing Sarah Dessen's trademark graceful writing, great characters, and compelling storytelling, What Happened to Goodbye is irresistible reading.

In Sarah Dessen's most recent novel, she really shines and shows that sometimes, you need to be someone else.
Good Points
I really enjoyed this book because Mclean is just like a lot of Sarah's other main characters'-they have shocking problems and the ending was perfect. Mclean and Dave fit really well because they help each other out and also talk about some of the problems they both have.

In What Happened to Goodbye Sarah Dessen captures the reality of being with divorced parents. Even though it's a horribly ugly subject Ms. Dessen captures it beautifully as always. Being a child of divorced parents ,made this book more real to me than any of the other books by Sarah Dessen.

In some parts of the book I had to snap the book shut ,because the things that McLean were speaking were to real to me to believe they were written in a book. The books have me chills and made me cry over a book like never before.

The characters Dessen creates in this book will leave you wanting to put yourself at Jackson High right at the table with McLean and Dave. Imaging that won't be hard ,because Ms.Dessen creates scenes so real it feels as if your in the book yourself.

This book is my favorite book by Sarah Dessen it is also holds my favorite boy in all of Sarah Book's

This is another great read by the great Sarah Dessen. The story was great, and Dave is just another awesome guy for the girl lead. But my favorite part was the miniature town they were building, and how Dave customized it in the end! I thought that was gorgeous!
