I read this book to see what all the hype was about and found it only satisfactory. I don't think it's the worst book out there but I don't see why it has so many die hard fans. I think that this is the best book in the series and it starts go downhill with New Moon.

I did like Stephenie Meyer's new take on vampires, in some ways they are cooler than traditional vampires. Traditional vampires can be killed with garlic, sunlight, and stake through the heart which makes them loose a lot of their scariness, however Meyer's vampires are mostly invincible which makes them cooler and scarier... until she made them sparkle in the sunlight which ruins everything dangerous about them.

Bella is what I consider to be the main problem with the story. She is the main character and also my least favorite. She comes off as whiny, childish, dull, and helpless. Unfortunately the story is told from her point of view which ruined some of the story for me.  Despite being unpopular at her old school Bella is almost automatically absorbed into the 'in-crowd' when she moves to Forks. She also has a parade of boys trying to ask her out, even though she's only average looking.  I've switched schools four times and I can tell you that being 'something new to look at' doesn't guarantee you instant popularity. Bella's only flaw, besides being insufferably irritating, is her clumsiness which is borderline ridiculous. If your falling down that much you probably have some sort of brain damage. After she hooks up with Edward she becomes the clingy sort of girlfriend that guys hate. Overall I think Meyer should've put some more work into Bella or told the story from the third person point of view.

Edward is the other main character I like him much better than Bella. Edward has the coolest vampire ability in my opinion, who wouldn't want to read minds? Most of his appeal for me is that he's not the pathetic, and whiny like Bella. Still most Edward's appeal to Bella is his appearance. Most of the time Bella describes him she spends a good three sentences on his rock hard muscles and ochre eyes. What color is ochre anyways? I always imagine it as pussy dark yellow. Edward also has some stalkerish tendancies such as watching Bella sleep. Personally I'd be creeped out if the boy I liked was watching me sleep. It is sweet for him to be protective of Bella but he takes it a little too far.

The plot was interesting but kind of slow. All the real action happened in the last few chapters of the book and the main villian didn't appear until more than halfway through. But overall I liked the book. I don't think I'll ever be a super fan but it wasn't as terrible as some people have described it and it's definately worth a read.

Stephanie Meyer's first installment in her Twilight series is a quick and easy read.  The plotline of vampires, high school, and love draw in readers easily. While the novel's plot is intriguing and interesting, the character development is wanting.  All in all, the book is the literary equivalent of a Twinky: sugary, sweet, but ultimately insubstantial.  After finishing the book in only a day, I was left wanting something more, something deeper.  Suspended disbelief is required throughout almost the entire belief not in the aspect of vampires and werewolves, but rather in the characters' actions themselves, as Bella and Edward fall in love in what seems an instant, and what seems more as an infatuation rather than a strong bond of love.

This book had it's ups and downs. "Twilight" had many many many grammatical errors, like Meyer constantly confusing which tense she writes in. However, since it was written for teenagers, I will forgive this.

Meyer's plot was quite interesting, though predictable. She kept you intrigued, after the first few boring chapters.

I felt like there was more hype over the book than there should have been. But, all well, it was decent.

This book is great. However, I feel that everyone is simply obsessed with it, and to me, it doesn't deserve the massive amounts of hype it is recieving. Yes, it is a good book. Yes, it is a good story. However, Stephenie Meyer's writing style doesn't completely appeal to me, and it is only because of the story, not the writing, that I have re-read this book.

Ok I see why this book is so popular, but I can say right now I didn't think it was as amazing as everyone has told me. Unlike most of you little children I prefer more mature books thank you very much. Though I will say it wasn't terrible. I really wish she would have made Bella a stronger character even though she is a human and not a vampire. I plan on forcing myself to read the rest of the series so I can find out if she ends up making her stronger and a better main character. The main character needs to be a strong willful character, but in this book that is not the case. The love aspect of it was a little immature for me. And the fact it revolved around school, that always makes me angry in a book and made it less enjoyable. I really wish she would have put more vampire stuff into it, that's why I read it, for the vampire stuff. But there wasn't enough of it for me and in the end I thought the book was only ok. I rate it PG-13 and give it 3 out of 5 stars

The book "twilight" has become an instant hit since it's been released. It's a really interesting book, the story of a typical 17 years old girl"Bella" who recently moved with her dad to a new town where she doesn't know anybody, until she meets a boy in her school "Edward" that she starting to have feelings for him, but what "Bella" doesn't know that "Edward" is not a regular guy, he's a vampire who has been trying hard not to get back to his old habits of consuming human blood...

One of the most talked about books today, Stephenie Meyers Twilight follows the life of Isabella Swan. After her relocation from sunny Phoenix, Arizona to rainy Forks, Washington, she doesnt expect much. Until she meets Edward Cullen. She finds herself oddly attracted to him, even though she knows that there is some part of him, a part that she didnt know how strongly it controlled him, that thirsted for her blood. But it doesnt matter that she knows. Shes already gotten herself into much deeper trouble than she thinks.
There is much hype surrounding this book. But is it justified? Some say it is, some say it isnt. I personally believe that this particular book is good only if youre into vampire novels and/or girl books. I must admit, I myself, am a big partaker of vampire novels, so I found it hard to put this book down. However, some things that might make you otherwise overlook this book are Isabellas Mary-Suelike qualities, Edwards Gary-Stulike qualities, and the lack of a good moral theme.
Isabellas name literally translates into "Beautiful Swan," so as you can guess, she is obviously going to be given special treatment from the other characters of the book, and she is. Edward is your stereotypical vampire: gorgeous, stunning, and mysterious. Nothing much else to say. And this book literally screams, "Ladies, your life is nothing without a man. Nothing!" There doesnt seem to be any other purpose for this book nor does it look like Stephenie is trying to get some sort of message across to her readers.
All in all, this book is best read as a guilty pleasure, not one to really make you think or say, "Wow!"
