The Weirn Books, Vol 2: The Ghost and The Stolen Dragon continues right where we left the Weirn kids at the close of book 1 after they seemed to have gotten rid of the evil scientist. Na’ya is haunted by nightmares and wants to have the power to protect all her family and friends. Her plan is to finally turn into a dragon, everything seems to be going to plan but then there seem to be dark shadows around the spell-casting range. Is something else going on?

What I Liked: I was already looking forward to the adventures the Weirn children would get into through volume 2 after reading the ending of Volume 1 of The Weirn Books. I was fascinated by the world-building in book 1 and needed to know more about the evil scientist and what she was capable of. I appreciated that this volume gave more page time to the adults in the story and we got to see them protecting their children. I loved getting to see the adults in the book step up to protect the children and how Na’ya’s mom uplifts her so she can see herself in a new light.

Volume 2 brought so many additional elements, including a dragon, to the scenes. I enjoyed the various sound effects and how those stood out throughout the pages by being in multiple fonts, colors, and sizes. The font changes were also included throughout the book depending on who was speaking which made it easier to follow.

Final Verdict: The Weirn Books, Vol 2: The Ghost and The Stolen Dragon is a must-read if you are following the story of the Weirn children. Just like Volume 1 did, the ending of this book will have you wanting to read the next one now to find out what these children are up to.
