The Suicide Journal is novella centered around a teenager named Cal. The story essentially centers around Cal's decision to kill himself and the reasons why.
The great part about this story is that instead of dialog from Cal about why he wants to kill himself, the takes us through a series of vignettes from Cal's life. Each event was something really bothered him subsequently caused his depression. The final vignette concludes with a final life-defining event for Cal.
The story is written in this style is not only easy to read but followed a chronological order of the stresses in Cal's life. Each short chapter made it clear why Cal had come to the conclusion about his life that he had.
I really enjoyed this story and was an easy to read approach to a great topic. The only thing that was a little off for me is that Cal kept complaining about how awful his parents were when they didn't come off this way at all but this could be viewed as Cal's interpretation of his parent's actions.
The writing style was really concise and it was really well edited. This one is a good quick read.
