What I Liked: This is one sour grape that holds grudges against everyone. The grape used to be kind, considerate, and patient until no one came to the biggest birthday party ever. Those feelings turned him sour and with that barrier in place, no one has any space to be friendly toward him. His days are consumed with thoughts of how everyone wrongs him and it takes its toll on his health and happiness. Then he has a really bad day and instead of being treated with understanding, Lenny the Lemon treats him just as tartly. With this self-realization comes the desire to work on not being so sour and giving others some grace as well.
Final Verdict: The illustrations are vibrant and engaging. The story is so relatable and has a wonderful message that can help younger children that are struggling with their emotions. I highly recommend this book for parents, teachers, and counselors to use with their young readers to help them cope with negative feelings and promote more resiliency.
