The Quiet Forest is a charming story full of alliteration and humor. One Mischievous mouse’s misdeeds lead to a whole uproar involving many animals in a forest that isn’t quiet by the end. I love the repeated phrasing making it perfect for children learning language and the first stages of reading- memorizing beloved text. The illustrations are bright and colorful: wonderful for pouring over the details of the chaotic forest. The alliteration in the story has great vocabulary such as drenched, mischievous, rattled, and bellowing which ensures learning, as well as fun while reading this story. Fans of The Old Woman Who Swallowed the Fly and other similar texts should add this to their reading list.
