The Pop-Up Guide: Animals (The Pop-up Guide, 4)

THE POP-UP GUIDE: ANIMALS is a cute book that shows children the animals that live in different climates. Each page is a pop-up with labeled animals as well as a paragraph about the animals in that climate/zone, including mountains, tropical seas, oceans, forests, the far north, and more.

What I loved: This is a really fun board book, largely because of the pop-ups on each page. The different images bring the various climates/zones to life, with good diversity of area and animals. The book even includes a backyard section, with animals that those who live in North America will recognize (bunnies and robins). Others are recognizable from other books and stories that children have encountered with a good diversity of animals from around the globe. The images are lush and include labeled animals for ones that caregivers may not readily recognize.

The paragraphs on each page add a small story to the images children can explore. While these are simple, they will add something extra for children who appreciate stories, setting the stage for the images they see. Another cool feature is the rubber bands at the top that can be used to grip any of the pages and hold it open for the readers.

Final verdict: THE POP-UP GUIDE: ANIMALS is a delightful and educational pop-up book to different climates/zones that will work well for toddlers and preschoolers.
