Atop a hill, there's a rundown house that doesn't look the greatest on the outside, but inside lives a large family that's full of love. Even though their living situation isn't the best, they make the most of it and make up for what's lacking in the house with the love they share for each other. For example, there are cracks and holes in the window, but Mia fixes it with buttons and adds character to the house. While Dad wants to fix the windows, Mia prefers the buttons.

Among this family, Valentine's Day is one of their favorites and is Mia's favorite day of the year because her name means My Valentine. They always go over the top with decorations and make a party out of it. Mia is most worried about everyone not making it in time to celebrate, but thankfully, the weather seems nice where it shouldn't be a problem. Mia helps her mom clean and decorate the house by reaching all the lower places Mama can't. In the end, we see the family together and celebrating what family really means.

THE HOUSE OF LOVE is all about making the most out of what you have and not worrying about others. Instead, it promotes strong family ties and celebrating each day. The illustrations are like watercolor portraits and have a red and pink color scheme that goes perfect with Valentine's Day. This is a heart-warming read that's perfect for this cold weather and Valentine's season.

Final Verdict: I would recommend this as a Valentine's Day gift to any child aged 4 and up because it's all about strong familial bonds and appreciating what you have.
