Reincarnation is not a new topic in YA literature, so this book wasn't all different in plot. But the characters, they were worth reading about. I like Haven, and even her grandma sometimes. But Beau really makes the story. He's so funny, and I kept waiting for more dialogue with him. And Iain is not to shabby either. ;)

I was elated that I was going to read something different in the form of an young adult paranormal novel.  Dont get me wrong, some of my favorite books include vampires and faeries, but there is a flooding of these types of books in the marketplace as well.  So, getting to read about reincarnation was something a bit different.  I loved the imagery presented with this highly religious town our main character was living in, it fit perfectly for a girl who was a bit different and having visions that she couldnt explain.  This was the perfect setting for her situation.  Her best friend Beau is a great accomplice for her and his character and his father both were complex and real.

I did have some issues with Havens character though.  She is very wishy-washy with her ideas and decisions and swayed by whatever anyone says.  One minute she trusts the love of her life, a few minutes later someone tells her not to, so she doesnt.  Then he explains himself and she trusts him again and then someone else says she shouldnt, so she doubts again.  She cant seem to trust herself, but will trust whoever is around her at the moment and this back and forth attitude happens a lot in the story.  That is the biggest downfall for me, I much prefer a strong minded person as the lead, so I have someone to root for, not yell at.  Other than her character flaws, which Im hoping will be rectified in the second novel, the storyline is quite original and entertaining.
