Zack Jennings is a normal 11 year old kid, except for the fact that he can see faces in the barks of trees. And he believes the man trapped inside wants to kill him, and he might just be right.
After Zack's mother died of cancer, his dad decided to remarry. But Judy isn't like the evil stepmoms in fairy tales, she's nicer to him than his real mother ever was. Zack's dad decides to move the new family out of New York and into Connecticut. They live on the Crossroads of County Route 13 and Highway 31, the site of a horrible bus crash.
Zack and Judy are then forced to face the fact that ghosts may be real, and they really want to hurt them.

The Crossroads is mostly geared toward a younger audience (the main character is an 11 year old boy) but i found the plot pretty interesting. Although there were some parts that were somewhat immature there were also a lot of violent parts (I can't even recall how many people died in this book). This book is told through many people's points of view, so it's almost like a bunch of little stories put together to make the full story. Some supernatural books seem like they could happen in real life, somewhere, sometime. This story on the other hand is a little far fetched, though it is VERY entertaining.
