Trust what you see, not what you’re told.

In a society that made males obsolete, the Weave engineers a female’s abilities. Girls like Dinitra are engineered by Sowers and assigned their life purpose when they turn sixteen.

But sometimes, the Sowers get things wrong.

A resistance is growing. Rebels are fabricating humans of their own--including males--and plan to topple the Weave in a war that could destroy them all. When Dinitra is assigned a job with the Legion, she uncovers the ugliest secrets of the Weave. Her loyalty is tested when she’s captured by the rebels and develops a dangerous bond with a male warrior--a shameful crime that she may pay for with her life.

Fans of Neal Shusterman'sArc of a Scythe series and Alexandra Bracken's The Darkest Minds series will delight in this heart-pounding adventure.

The bond is a sci-fi tale about a girl and her dog. But the girl is not a girl, and the dog is not just a dog. Plucked from her path that she has known her whole life Dinatra is moved to an entirely new reality where she bonds with a hybrid dog and learns that things are not wholly how she thought they were. The book explores themes such as motherhood, coming of age and loyalty, and what it means to be human. There is quite a bit to learn about this world called the weave. And terms about how humans are created in labs and brought to time in vessels.
Dinatra is set to graduate and will be given her job turns out her whole class is being sent off to the legion, the military that protects the weaves from males. I thought it was an exciting concept that males are the enemies in this world. Dinatra now has to overcome her fear of dogs as she will train and work with them.
Kirk has created a unique world with compelling characters. I hope you pick it up and give it a go.
