What Worked: This is a Ready to Read level one graphic novel book. The sentences are short and the pictures really help a young child to figure out the words. The illustrations were really bright and fun to look at. These upbeat cupcakes are very relatable to children having fun at the pool with the occasional anxiety about trying something new. If you can look past the fact that in real life cupcakes and water wouldn’t work out so well, this is a very cute book that a young reader will enjoy. This graphic novel style was well done and easy to follow along for fans and beginners of that format.
