A kid's eye view of how to grow happy and healthy houseplants. This book is so much more than a botanical list, with pictures, illustrations, tips and tricks, and activities ranging from plant tea parties to painting pots. There's also lots of fun facts, including the science of soils and the history of terracotta pots. All bite-sized pieces, of course.

I love the colorful page layout. While it's mostly words, it really doesn't feel like it, because the information is spread out like a visual dictionary. There's plenty of lists and blurbs and catchy headings to catch the attention of anyone skimming or keep ahold of the diligent readers looking at every word.

I'm not sure if the same houseplants are common across different climates, but the plants highlighted here do seem to represent different geographies. There's leafy ferns and the more desert-friendly aloes, and I'm looking forward to applying the plant-care tips to my own little row of succulents.

A great guide for budding plant lovers!
