When Pina has to leave the comfort of his home for groceries, he's so terrified as his imagination starts to run wild. To him, leaving his house is the worst possible thing because of all the bad that can happen. He's a homebody who fears the unknown and revels in the safety of his house. However, when the other option is to starve, Pina takes the leap and heads out the door. As he travels, he realizes the world isn't as bad as his imagination led him to believe.

PINA weaves a tale that takes us through the horrors a child's imagination can conjure. The illustrations remind me of Tim Burton's odd yet fascinating style, like Nightmare Before Christmas. It teaches children while things may seem intimidating, it doesn't make them bad. A lot of good can come out of new experiences and it's a chance to meet new people. The writing style is unique and the main character is relatable to children who struggle with fears of the unknown.

Final Verdict: PINA is an inspiring story with a strong message for children who suffer from anxieties and fear doing new things. It'll open their eyes to the unlimited adventures awaiting them.
