Murphy is a wild-child, Leeda is Miss Proper and Birdie is well, just Birdie.

Murphy is hanging out on the railroad tracks one evening with a boy and decides to break into a peach orchard for a drink instead of making out with some random guy. Murphy gets caught and is sentenced to work at the peach orchard for the summer.

Leeda can not live up to her mothers 'perfect' expectations and her older sisters life. Leeda goes to spend the summer with her cousin Birdie on the peach orchard for the summer.

Birdie is left with her father to tend to the peach orchard that she loves and can't stand to listen to her mother complain on the phone. Birdie is a shy chubby girl who embarrasses herself in front of a hot Mexican worker Enrico.

These three girls find themselves swimming in the lake after dark, dancing with truckers at a bar, and finding themselves while looking for the perfect peach to pick.

I absolutely loved reading Peaches. My best friend had read it a few years back and recommended it to me. Anderson creates a beautiful piece of work about how three girls become the best of friends and help each other through hard times. For fans of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, this book series is perfect for you.

I'm not one to read such books about "best friends", but when I saw this one I thought I might give it ago, because well...I love peaches.

The book thoroughly surprised me in a good way. I found the plot to be interesting and the characters even more interesting. The book is lovely and at the end it leaves the reader with a happy feeling.

This book was deffinatly a book off of my general genre, but I am delighted that I tried out this new book. I have proudly read all 3 peaches book and I encourage it to people of all ages. It will leave you with a satisfied and delightful feeling.

:)

A light-hearted story about three very different girls learning that they have someone to trust in the world. Becoming the best of friends doesn't come without a grand adventure, including storms, guys, money and most of all peaches.
The thing I liked most about this story was it seemed more real than most coming-of-age stories. Written with detail and emotion this is a must read!

I'm sort of wary of these kinds of books, because it brings up the fact that not all of life is perfect, and love doesn't always end up in a fairytale. I hate that fact, despite how true it is. Yet, I have to award the author, because this books was truly charming and caught my attention. I really glad to admit that I have a copy of it sitting on my shelf, because it's a proud books to own.

Oddly, it reminded me of The Secret Life of Bees. Just the overall summer feeling, the feeling of something new and powerful approaching, and the feeling of the peaches in our hands.

Of course, it's obvious that the peach represents purity and the sweetness of summer, and just the imagery in some of the areas caught me too.

Overall, it's a great read. I'd definitely recommend this one.

Certainly a juicy novel about three unusual friends working on a small peach farm going bankrupt. Romance for one girl, finding herself for another, and breaking out of her sister's shadow for that last. Great novel, sure to please. Made me crave peaches for weeks!

I needed a little dose of some good old friendship yesterday and decided to try out a new (to me) series by Jodi Lynn Anderson. I was pretty pleased with the first book and hope the next is as enjoyable, if not more.

Peaches is the story of three girls, placed at a failing peach orchard in Georgia to work for the summer. Birdie is the slightly overweight daughter of the orchard owner, very insecure and very lonely in her Georgia peach world. Since her mother ran off, a lot of the orchard responsibility has been placed on Birdie and she takes her job very seriously. Leeda is Birdie's rich and spoiled cousin and she opts to spend the summer at the orchard instead of planning her sister's wedding. Leeda is incredibly jealous of her sister and wants nothing to do with making plans and knows she isn't exactly wanted around the house either. Murphy is the resident bad girl. She is sentenced by the town judge to work at the orchard as community service for petty crimes she continuously commits.

Though putting distance between themselves at first, the girls grow closer as the summer moves on and find they actually have quite a bit in common. They work together through boyfriend problems, family dramas, and the doubt that the peach orchard will survive. This was a lovely and refreshing book, which I'm looking forward to reading the sequel too. I guarantee that after reading this book, you'll want to go shopping for fresh peaches!

This book has to be one of my favorites. It is so well written, and her characters are so funny!
Right now, I am supposed to be writing a report on Jodi Lynn Anderson, but all of her biographies are all of two sentences long. That shows how truly humorus (yet annoying) her style is!

I totally reccomend this book, and I really need to get back to my report!
