NOODLE AND THE NO BONES DAY is a picture book about taking some days to relax. Noodle and his owner Jonathan love taking walks and seeing things around the city. One day, when Jonathan goes to get Noodle, Noodle does not want to take a walk. It almost seems like he has no bones. He just wants to stay in and snuggle. Jonathan considers and decides that he also wants to have a no bones day. Thereafter, they still like to go out sometimes but also take some days just to hang out and eat snacks.

What I loved: This is an intriguing story about meeting our friends where they are and a bit of self-care. Every now and then, we all just need a day to hang out and do nothing. The book sets up a way to acknowledge and participate in these no bones days. The illustrations are really great throughout, capturing the emotions of Noodle and Jonathan as they experience things together.

The font is large and clear, making this easy to read aloud. The amount of text will work well for elementary school aged readers who may also appreciate the message about taking some time to relax.

Final verdict: NOODLE AND THE NO BONES DAY is a sweet picture book read about taking some time to relax when you need it. Recommend for elementary school aged readers who will enjoy the emotive characters and simple messages about taking it easy every once in a while, friendship, and the love of pets.
