The Rayne Tour promised to be a stunning success, Shaley OConnor traveling from concert to concert with her moms popular band. But two murders later and with Shaley just rescued from a kidnapper, the band members, Rayne and Shaley feel like they are going through the motions after their surreal experience. What the others dont know is the man who kidnapped Shaley whispered his last words into her ear and completely upended her world: Your father sent me.

Life with a rock star provides teenage Shaley with lots of perks, but she has longed to know her father. Rayne never told her anything about him. Now an evil man says he came at her fathers bidding. Shaley realizes that if he spoke the truth, her father must be evil too and the OConnor women arent out of danger.

Then an attacker injures Rayne and Shaley doesnt think they can handle anything else. While her mom recovers in the hospital, she finally tells Shaley how she met and fell in love with Gary Donovon and about the forces that tore them apart. The book alternates between the present and the past until the startling climax where Shaley learns people arent all good or bad and forgiveness can change everything.

Books in a series usually can stand alone but make us want to read more about the characters. Take the advice of the mother-daughter writing team Brandilyn and Amberly Collins in their Dear Reader message. Last Breath the second book of The Rayne Tour series is best read after book one, Always Watching. Otherwise you might feel a little lost while inhaling this suspenseful well-layered mystery.
