Big or Small?
What I loved: The clever and colorful illustrations give young children lots to look at as they explore the book. The simple opposite words are a great introduction to this concept. The cut-outs and peek-throughs add some visual and tactile interest across the book. In terms of the book itself, the words are large, clear, and easy to read. The size of the book is great for little hands, the thick board book pages are nice and sturdy.
What left me wanting more: The cut-outs are exactly the size of the next page, so they get stuck across pages and are tough to pull apart, even for bigger/older hands. This makes it tough for little ones to fully explore the book on their own. Luckily, not every page is impacted, so there are a few they can explore on their own. It would have been helpful to have the cut-outs a little smaller than the opening, so they could turn much easier.
Final verdict: A brightly colored collection of opposites, BIG OR SMALL? is a fun board book that combines cut-outs and peek-throughs with simple illustrations and terms to help teach the concept to young readers.
