Award-winning author-illustrator Susan Stockdale welcomes you to the Bird Show, showcasing nature’s most dazzling colors, diverse patterns, and fashionable feathered features! For budding birders and nature enthusiasts.

You’re invited to the Bird Show! Award-winning author-illustrator Susan Stockdale welcomes readers to a beautiful fashion show starring some of the world’s most spectacular birds.

Birds may be one color or many. Their feathers may be simple and solid or speckled, striped, or spotted. They may “wear” a jacket, a scarf, an apron, a headdress. But just like people, each one contributes to our beautiful world, made more vibrant by their diversity.

Amateur ornithologists of all ages will marvel at the gorgeous birds in this colorful picture book that brings these creatures, both familiar and exotic, to life with remarkable portraits and energetic, rhyming text. An afterword provides more information about each species and offers an entertaining pattern matching game.

If birds had a fashion show, they would show off their unique plumage! BIRD SHOW is a brightly colored book that features some interesting feathers along with rhyming text. Showing off not only bright colors, but also special patterns and shapes, this picture book is a fun collection of interesting birds.

What I loved: This is a fun collection of birds with great and bright illustrations filling every page. The rhyming text has a great rhythm to it that makes it roll off the tongue. With the large and clear font, this one is made for reading aloud. The breadth of birds and cool feathers is really great, capturing all the variety and different ways that birds stand out around the globe.

The backmatter of this one really shines with the names of each of the featured birds along with cool facts. There is a lot to spark of love of learning in the book. The last page also includes a small game to add to the fun (with answers provided!).

Final verdict: A fun way to learn a little bit about birds, BIRD SHOW is a delightful picture book to read aloud, combining rhyming text with brightly colored illustrations. Recommend for young children who love to learn and who enjoy animals.
