An excellent read for children who love machines and/or space, ASTRO KITTENS: INTO THE UNKNOWN takes preschoolers for an unforgettable ride through the machines used to explore space. Beginning with telescopes through rovers and more, this book features many brightly-colored and clever illustrations throughout.

With cats in spacesuits on each page and simplified information about outer space-related machinery, this book is a great way to teach children a little about a lot of complex ideas related to space exploration. The illustrations easily draw them in and the text is quite informative.

What I loved: I adore books that bring science in a fun way to young children, and this book definitely fits that description. The illustrations are fantastic! I loved the inclusion of images taken with telescopes also- there are so many cool things to look at in this book. There are a lot of interesting facts- some of which might be new, even to adults, and I really enjoyed that.

What left me wanting more: As a very small point, the text is a little small and so difficult to read when a toddler holding the book.

Final verdict: Perfect for children who love outer space and learning about cool machines, this clever board book is a great introduction. With great information and wonderful illustrations, preschoolers are sure to enjoy this journey into outer space through the eyes of machines we use to explore it.
