I AM A WONDER WOMAN is a fun and cool activity book which celebrates the amazing things women have done and currently do. Each two page spread features a woman and what her accomplishments have been, ranging from art/ballet/sports to politics and science. Each spread also includes activities on theme, such as tests of speed (with a ruler drop), origami, and journal-type reflection entries. Thus, there are around 60 women featured in this engaging activity book.

What I loved: the women are thoughtfully and cleverly chosen to span a wide breadth of careers/accomplishments, time, and ethnicities. The diversity here is amazing! While you will see some familiar faces, there are a lot of women with whom I was unfamiliar but who were very interesting to read about! With the addition of the activities on each page, this book could easily occupy your time for weeks! I found fully engaging, educational, and just plain fun.

There are some really clever and fun activities that make this book extra fun and bring the women to life. For instance, Xian Zhang, a Chinese conductor, is described, and then the reader learns how to conduct with a pencil baton. For Leila Lombardi, an Italian race car driver, you test your reflexes with the ruler drop to see if you have the reflexes you’d need to follow in her footsteps. For Hypatia, the greek mathematician, astronomer, and philosopher, the book gives you philosophical questions with space to jot down your own philosophical thoughts.

On top of all that, the design on each page is aesthetically pleasing, and it’s a seriously cool book just to flip through. The stories are all so fascinating and well-described. I highly recommend for any budding wonder women you may know!

Final verdict: This is a beautifully planned and inspirational activity book that is perfect for the middle grade audience. With educational and delightful activities and stories, young readers are sure to enjoy themselves going through this book!
