In this simple and enlightening book, former teacher Cathryn Sill explains to children what marine mammals are, what they do, and how they live. Accompanied by beautifully detailed illustrations from noted wildlife illustrator John Sill, About Marine Mammals tells children what is essential for understanding and appreciating these fascinating creatures. An afterword--which includes a glossary and recommended books and websites--provides further detail for children and their parents about a wide variety of marine mammals.

Learning Value
About Marine Mammals is a beautifully illustrated and educational book, perfect for school libraries. Or if you have a curious child who enjoys learning about the ocean, About Marine Mammals is a great learning experience you and your child can enjoy together. Each page is filled with colorful images and interesting facts, but young readers will find this is not a text heavy book. Suitable for children who prefer to learn visually. However informative the text is, it does come off a bit bland. A little more personality might appeal to young readers who don’t normally like to read. Otherwise, I found About Marine Mammals enjoyable and educational—perfect for the science classroom.
I would recommend this book for school libraries as well as for young children to read with their parents or teachers.
