While at a comicon, comics super fans Lila and Ecco encounter a unique workshop. To their joy, they find they can learn to craft their own comics! At the same time, readers of this book can do the same. Author Willow Dawson explores the process of creating comics, from brainstorming to presenting a final product, through the storyline of this unique book.

In Lila and Eccos Do-It-Yourself Comics Club by Willow Dawson, techniques for drafting dialogue and some essentials of drawing basics are included as well as creating the actual mock-up of the book. However, the books illustrations are crowded and stark, very angular, with little shading and no color on any of the pages. This reviewer personally did not care for the artwork. It looks more like a coloring book than a story or how-to guide.

That said, although a niche book and not for every reader, this book is most definitely a smart gift for future comics artists.

Features a glossary and a list of books for further reading.
