Caldecott Honor winner and bestselling author-illustrator David Shannon makes readers laugh aloud when young Spencer's mountain of toys becomes overwhelming. A book that will be read again and again. Spencer has too many toys! His father trips over them, his mother falls over them, and the house is overflowing with junk. Now its time to give some of the mountain of goodies away, but Spencer finds it hard. In the end, he fills a box, but decides the one toy he can't part with is the box!

Spencer has too many toys! This exuberant picture book by the award-winning author/illustrator David Shannon is sure to make a child giggle with delight. Toys spill out of every closet and drawer and clutter the floor, but every single toy is Spencers favorite. (The best toy ever!). There are so many toys that they are becoming a household hazard for his mom and dad as they trip over toys all over the house. In this funny story, Spencer tries to convince his mom that he must keep them all. They haggle and negotiate like a couple of lawyers and end up making a deal to keep the Gitchigoomies if Spencer will only put some of his toys away in his toy box. The story ends with a funny plot twist, which I wont give away here.

The illustrations of the jumble of toys are delightful, but it is the joyful little boys adoration of his toys that shines through in page after page. On some pages, simply finding Spencers face among his many toys is a fun game in itself.  Parents might recognize their own house in the zany scenes pictured here. And young children will be entranced by the zillions of toys pictured in this book!
