This is another retelling of fairy tales to fit a need:  The need to get a child to sleep at night without reading "just one more book", while you (the parent) are so tired you're having a hard time keeping your eyes open.  Or just a cute book to read with your child!  It's starts with a tired dad reading to his child at bedtime and cutting some words and parts out of the stories.  It starts with Chicken Little thinking the sky is falling and wanting to go tell the king.  He meets up with his friends, then a fox - who chases them around the barn until Chicken Little is tired, forgets about the king and goes to sleep.  In the first part of the book the stories end with "the end."  As you go on though, the stories end with the dad becoming more desperate to get his child to sleep.  He starts saying "why aren't you asleep yet" and other things at the end of the stories.
The illustrations in this book match the stories for silliness and kids will love them both.  They may feel a little tricked by the shorter stories, but it's much the same as when parents get "tricked" into reading "just one more book."  If you have little ones, this is a great bedtime book.
