Let’s face it: Greg Heffley will never change his wimpy ways. Somebody just needs to explain that to Greg’s father. You see, Frank Heffley actually thinks he can get his son to toughen up, and he enlists Greg in organized sports and other "manly” endeavors. Of course, Greg is able to easily sidestep his father’s efforts to change him. But when Greg’s dad threatens to send him to military academy, Greg realizes he has to shape up . . . or get shipped out.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid is a awesome book written in a journal like form. There are great comic like pictures that are super funny, some of which made me laugh out loud. There are such great jokes inside this book but at the end of each book there is a lesson to be learned.

In the Last Straw, Greg's father signs him up for a military school. The whole book is the events leading up to the date of the start of the new school. In it has accounts of Greg's soccer matches and friendship with Rowley. He also writes about the snack issue, someone is stealing the snacks for his lunches. The part that I found the funniest was when he was hiding in the laundry basket waiting for the thief (which turned out to be his dad) and when he caught him, he stole some lollies and ran away with him. I thought that was pretty funny. Also the part where he hid under a blanket in his parents room, and his dad walks in. And when he shuffles around the bed, inch by inch, but then the phone rings, and both Greg and his dad scream. I thought was so funny!

This book is such a laugh, and I can't wait until I read the next one, Dog Days.

Gregs diary

Do you like to read someones diary, where someone keeps his secrets? Diary of A Wimpy Kid is Gregs diary

.

Greg lives in a city with his mom, dad, and his big brother Roderick and Manny his little brother. Greg and his fried Rowley find a box and they make it into a time capsule. They both some stuff in it Rowley puts in some video game and some money. And they buried their time capsule. Greg goes to middle school, he always brings some snack with his lunch and if he doesnt bring any snack he cant focus on work.
But his dad had been stealing his snack at night, and his mom wouldnt buy him until the end of the week

.

Greg sneaks at night where Greg and his friend had buried the time capsule. He digs in to the ground and opens the time capsule and takes all the money out and he buys his own snacks. He doesnt tell Rowley about this because it was his money

.

This was the funniest book I ever read. It is full of funny picture, funny riddles that I guarantee you that ones you read this book you want to read more of the series really like the way author wrote in diary.
The author wanted to write a book like this when he was little; unfriendly his drawing wasnt really good so when he grew up some other people helped him publish this book. (I rate this book nine out of ten).

Greg Heffley isnt self-centered. Really. He just likes thinking of himself in a positive way, though it seems he always gets the bad end of the deal. Middle school is challenging enough. Adding a hippy-skippy mother, a baby of a brother, and reasonably attractive girls just makes the stress lever higher. Greg is trying his hardest to concentrate on the important things, like making his father happy and proud. But being the way he is, Greg is easily distracted, especially by wanting to blow dandelions, playing last minute jokes, and finding who the snack thief is. Told through his own journal and own drawings, Greg shares what it is like to be a wimpy kid.

Diary of a Wimpy Kid: The Last Straw is too much like real life to not have laugh-out-loud moments. Not only was I giggling at every page, I was full-out belly laughing at Gregs decisions and situations, which made my stomach feel a little weak but my eyes wanting to read more. This book is so realistic in every way: not wanting to get up for the remote because youre in a comfortable position, resisting the urge to blow dandelions (which Greg isnt too good at). It all made so much sense! I shared most every part to my parents and siblings and hearing my mothers laugh, you would know for sure that this book is worth checking out at your library. : )
