Ping is once again facing the Emperor, Liu Che, because
she stole an Imperial dragon. Well, not really. She is a dragonkeeper,
and Danzi, her old dragon, told her to steal away the purple stone who
hatched into a baby dragon the previous book. Danzi leaves her to go to
the Isle of the Blest, and she is left to take care Kai, the baby
dragon. She is met against lots of people who wish to harm Kai, and
her. Her future begins to dim as she is replaced as a dragonkeeper and
she realizes the intentions of the Emperor. This was a sad book, but it
was well-written. I liked it, but it wasn't as exciting as finding out
the awesome nature of dragons from the first book, Dragonkeeper.
