The Daring Book for Girls
From how to press flowers to what every girl should have in her toolbox (a power drill, a glue gun, safety glasses, and a hand saw, among other things), this book is full of wonderful things that all types of girls will have fun doing. Intended to make you put the phone down and get outside. It's raining? That's okay! There are all sorts of fun things to do inside. Although more of an encyclopedia of girl knowledge than something to "sit-down-and-read", The Daring Book for Girls is a real winner.
(To correct the review entitled Amazing Lists - Things You Never Knew, there are less than 10 biographies but more than 10 women explorers mentioned, and 14 different ways to play tag.)
These books were common in the 1940-50s and its actually nice to see a modern version. This is like a book of lists; 10 biographies of women explorers, 10 ways to play tag, full lyrics of some old songs that we all know 1 verse of (who knew Oh my darling Clementine was so dark?), and how to put up your hair with a pencil.
Its a fantastic book, but not really a book that you sit and read. Itd be great for a schoolroom, when kids often have a spare 15 minutes or so, a doctors office or any place that kids are likely to have a half hour or so to be engrossed.
