Mom says karma always comes around to get you, and I guess it's true. Because last summer I was a total liar, and now, right in the middle of Mr. Pritchard's third-period math class, my whole world is about to come crashing down.
That's because while Devon was living with her grandmother for the summer, she told her "summer friend," Lexi, that she was really popular back home and dating Jared Bentley, only the most popular guy at school. Harmless lies, right? Wrong. Not when Lexi is standing at the front of Devon's class, having just moved to Devon's town. Uh-oh.

Devon knows there's only one way to handle this -- she'll just have to become popular! But how is Devon supposed to accomplish that when she's never even talked to Jared, much less dated him?! And it seems the more Devon tries to keep up her "image," the more things go wrong. Her family thinks she's nuts, her best friend won't speak to her, and, as if it's not all complicated enough, Jared starts crushing on Lexi and Devon starts crushing on Jared's best friend, Luke. It all has Devon wondering -- who is the real Devon Delaney?

For anyone whos ever exaggerated the truth to make yourself look better, The Secret Identity of Devon Delaney is a must read! Lauren Barnholdt does a great job of showing just how out of control everything can get from telling just a couple of little white lies.

Devon Delaney spent her summer at her grandmothers house where she made a fabulous new friend, Lexi. However, Devon wasnt totally honest with Lexi about her life. She told Lexi that her name was Devi, that she was the epitome of popularity at her school, and that she was dating Jared, the most popular and best-looking guy at her school. Its no big deal, right? Devon just thinks that it will make Lexi like her a little bit more, and its not like her lies will ever hurt anyone. Lexi will never find out the truth, its not like shes ever met Jared or any of the other kids at Devons school.

But to Devons complete and utter shock, Lexi flounces in on the first day of school, totally excited that shell be hanging out with Devi, the most popular girl at school. Its a mad scramble for Devon to play Devi all the time and fool Lexi into thinking that she really belongs with the A-list crowd at school. It seems that everyday she is telling more and more lies to cover up the truth about who she really is. Soon, Devon is caught up so tight in her web of lies that one wrong step could shatter her entire Devi facade. Will she be able to keep everyone fooled? Or will she be able to come clean before its too late?

This wicked funny tale is a great read that preteens will relate to and will lead older teens to reminisce about those good old days in junior high when so-called popularity was the top priority in many girls lives. Lauren Barnholdt is never condescending towards her characters and doesnt try to minimize their problems. At the same time, she shows how a true friendship can overcome even the most ridiculous lies and that being yourself is all you ever need to be.

The Secret Identity of Devon Delaney is a great book for any young adult who's little white lie has ever gotten them into some bigger trouble than ever expected. Devon Delaney is just a regular girl, only there's one diffrence between her, and all the other kids at her summer camp: VERY LITTLE OF WHAT SHE SAYS IS TRUE! She finds her own lies leading her right down a path of trouble. Wondering what happens next? Well you can find out by checking out "The Secret Identity of Devon Deaney" and/or the sequal, "Devon Delaney Should Totally Know Better" which by the way is just as great a book as The Secret Identity of Devon Delaney" about how crazy it is that she still hasn't learned her lesson about lying while dealing with the trouble of a secret boyfriend, a fake boyfriend, the popular girl, named Bailey Barelli, and her dad, whom she thinks is cheating on her mother. Find out how she deals with all this stress in Devon Delaney should totally know better.

The Secret Identidy of Devon Delaney  is a great book for young readers. I just ordered the book a week ago and got it three days ago. Once I had gotten in to the book, I just couldn't stop reding. It was like the book was calling my name. Last night I read until 10:00 at night not even realizing the time. I just finished it this morning and I love it. I feel like reading it over and over again. It is a great book for girls ages 10-16. It really has a great message in the bok too. It teaches you how horrible lying is and you should never use lying as a solution to get you in to something. I would recommend it to any girl. They would absolutly love it. This book IS NOT a waste of time. You or your daughter will love it!

The Secret Identity of Devon Delaney is a must read for all tween girls! The author of this book Lauren Barnholdt shows what the consequences are for telling even a little white lie. I was the one who brought it up to all of my friends and they can't stop telling me how good it is! It was so good, I brought it up to 8 of my friends and they all barrowed it from me. When they returned it they reccomended it to more people. So now about all the girls in my grade are loving it!

A fantastic and dramatic read for tween girls.

This book id a totally cool book! The meaning of this book is not to lie because you might lose your friends and its not funny to lie sometimes because it might hurt peoples feelings and that doesn't feel good. When I read this book I was shocked! Wow! This book is the best book I've read ever!
