In this bright and cheerful nonfiction picture book, we watch Sally the Pizza Maker (along with her trusty feline sidekick) in action. First Sally assembles her ingredients: tomatoes she grows in the community garden, wheat that has been grown on a farm and then milled and delivered to Sally, cheese made from milk. Next, Sally opens her shop and starts making the pizza. She (watched by her striped cat) goes through each step, from mixing the dough to slicing up the gooey hot pie. Sally's customers cluster into her shop to devour the luscious offerings, and when the day is done Sally and her cat assistant get to eat indulge, too.

Readers will enjoy this story of how pizza is made (including insights of where the ingredients come from), Sally's joy in the process, and the feel-good illustrations. The author has even included a pizza recipe, simple enough for young cooks to assemble with help from an adult, which tops off this delicious tale.
