Dallas imagined the silver bird flying on until it spied a narrow green valley, a scooped-out basin with a creek looping and winding its way through the center. He pictured it swooping down from the sky into this basin in the hills, to this place where cool breezes drifted through the trees, and where the creek was so clear that every stone on its bottom was visible.
The book Ruby Holler is a page- turner novel full of adventure and believable characters. This book is by Sharon Creech and is realistic fiction. Ruby Holler is written in third person. I enjoyed reading this book. It is full of descriptive words that make you feel as if you are there. I loved the different personalities in this book and always looked forward to reading it.
Ruby Holler is about two twin orphans, Florida and Dallas, who have lived at the Boxten Home all their lives. They are named the trouble twins. Couples have foster cared them and adopted them, but each time they have been sent back to the dreadful Boxten Home. They have been punished just for being kids: running, shouting, and getting dirty. When they run in the house or shout or get dirty, they are locked up in some dark, cold room or ordered to dig a well. Then, an elderly couple, Tiller and Sairy, whose children have grown up and moved away, foster care Florida and Dallas to accompany them on their trips. Although, one of them will go with Tiller on a river trip and one will go with Sairy on an island in the middle of the ocean to look for a rare bird. But Florida and Dallas dont want to part. They are foster cared once more. When they arrive at the place where Tiller and Sairy live, Ruby Holler, it is like heaven. The cabin has a loft with four beds in which Dallas and Florida will sleep. The cabin is surrounded by rolling hills and shady forests and a creek where they can play. In addition, they are allowed to run, shout and get dirty. They are not put to work and are served delicious meals plus dessert. But, when they go on a rehearsal for their trips, incidents happen. When they go on their trips, they have to deal with violent rapids, starvation, and the fact of being lost. The storyline itself is exciting and addictive.
I would defiantly recommend this book Ruby Holler. When you start reading this book, you can not stop. The author used descriptive words to describe the characters and the setting. The book was brought to life. While reading the book Ruby Holler, I felt as if I was there in the scene. The dialog and descriptions of this book were easy to understand and smoothly written. It did not have so much description that the reader would lose interest. The characters thoughts, appearances, and personalities were well described. When I read this book, I knew, what I would hear if I were there, what I would feel if I touched something, what I would taste and see. The plot was also very believable. The events made sense and it was realistic. In my opinion, the characters reacted to the events and conflict realistically. Ruby Holler was based on things that happen in our lives today. People get lost and have to face violent rapids and strong currents. People judge people before they meet them or really get to know them. Kids sometimes just want to be kids and get dirty, or run indoors and shout. I enjoyed the books style of writing. I loved the description, personalities, adventure, and the way the plot came to life.
I loved reading the book Ruby Holler. The descriptions carried me away to Ruby Holler. I was surprised how much different the characters were from each other and I enjoyed the different personalities. Ruby Holler is an excellent, well written novel full of adventure, realistic and lifelike events, and adventure. I would definitely recommend Ruby Holler to anyone who loves a good book.

At first, this book was hard to follow and was confusing. After a while, it got better and ended up being a really good book. It was about a couple of trouble makers who go to live with a lot of different foster parents until they find the perfect ones, an elderly couple who clicks with them perfectly. I would definitely recommend reading this book.
